Does Rational Thought Heal Emotional Pain

Early on in my Christian experience I was taught the importance of daily bible reading, prayer, regular church attendance and worship. They were and continue to be foundational in my relationship with the Father. Over time, other important building blocks were added. They included the importance of service, developing spiritual gifts and the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

A few years ago, I heard a minister say rational thought can not heal emotional pain. It struck me. I had been using all the tools in my spiritual tool box and only getting marginal relief in times of crisis, loss, and rejection. But, this was all I knew. Was I missing something?

The years of unresolved pain were stacking up on me. All I wanted was to feel better.

So, I began to acknowledge my negative emotions rather than, suppress, deny or pray them away. I incorporated the idea of asking prayer. I asked questions and I waited for the Father to answer. I started using visual prayer to exchange my pain for His Truth. It was different and wonderful all at the same time. Those musings for intimacy and healing were answered in relationship with a loving Father.

The scriptures are clear;

Ask and you will receive

My sheep know my voice and will follow no other

Get honest with God and allow Him into those places of pain. If you don't know where to start try using Cut Cards. They will give you a systematic way to engage your heart not just your mind in prayer.
